Life has seem to taken me off my blogging path.

And look! It's a new year! Last year my goal was to buy a house and within days of 2012 I made it happen. We've been settling in, unpacking, painting (the kitchen twice after deciding Tuscan yellow is *not* me) and setting up my new studio/office space. I hope this new year is full of creativity, love and abundance for all! Peace~Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4297247811451226474.post-26910000102229891772011-11-23T12:08:00.000-05:002011-11-23T12:08:11.996-05:0030 Day Drawing Challenge

I was helping a friend's daughter prepare her portfolio for art school the other day and gave her some wise words that my grandfather had said to me, "Draw EVERY DAY!" Now only if I could heed my own advise! There just aren't enough hours in the day I tell you!

Along comes this lovely little 30 day drawing challenge! Yes, along with reading the classics, baking rolls and Indian pudding, driving the kids around and (oh yeah!) working...I will be drawing as well. Join me!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4297247811451226474.post-70053439252897757362011-11-23T11:50:00.001-05:002011-11-23T11:58:47.152-05:00New Year's ResolutionI have always wanted to read more classics. Or even better, some banned books that will be classics someday. Hence my New Year's Resolution. No, it won't be to lose weight or exercise more, it is to expand my mind's library so to speak. What books will you be reading in 2012? Here is my list so far:

Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller (1934)
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut (1969)
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (1939)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky (1999)
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
What an honor~ I'm so excited about this! Especially because I just started Bramble Spice less than a week ago and only have 2 followers so far. Ha! And one's my own sister so...Yes, it's pretty cool to be recognized! I now get the privilege of passing it on the 15 of my favorite bloggers.
I would like to give it to new bloggers with less than 100 followers but it's taking me a bit of time for this part. I hope by the end of the week I will be able to award 15 up and coming bloggers~
Clad in my 60's costume, 4" velvet go-go boots, fake eyelashes, hair pouf and daisy clip on earrings , one could say I looked "smashing" - Yeahhh baby! But when it comes to looking around the party for who could be single and datable- my prospects turn up short, man. Does he wear eyeliner on a daily basis? Or is that just a one-time rock-n-roller inspired look for him? Is he creepy under that mask? Because he sure looks creepy with it on! And what does he really look like under that silver face paint? Hmmm. Should I even attempt a conversation with the man with fake boobs? Chalk it up to a ghoulish night hanging with my girls, gettin' down to the Monster Mash in an outfit I would never wear given any other prime man-hunting Friday night, and savoring the autumn chill with delight. It was fun to dress up but thankfully this night comes but once a year!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4297247811451226474.post-51338000702535008422011-10-30T00:59:00.000-04:002011-10-30T00:59:15.473-04:00The Weather Outside is Frightful...Wind is howling, rain is pelting, leaves and sticks hitting the windows, the storm windows rattle, the house shudders, the dog won't even go outside in this mess... and I'm really surprised the power is still on.

I thought we were to have a mild winter because of the wooley bear caterpillar. Yes, those fuzzy black and orange ones you see scooting across the road in the fall time. Tradition says that the larger the orange band, the milder the winter. Well, Mr. Bear, you lie. The leaves have not yet turned here on good ole Cape Cod and yet Mother Nature sends us this nasty Nor'easter! 18" of snow at my friend's house in Connecticut! It's October and just the other day it was a balmy 65 degrees. Could this strange weather pattern be due to the warmings of the globe? Who knows...Or perhaps I got it wrong ~ the larger the orange band, the more brutal this winter will be? That sounds about right.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4297247811451226474.post-63320610249318972832011-10-25T10:20:00.000-04:002011-10-25T10:27:30.631-04:00Why do friends try to set me up with strange men?Just yesterday, my dearest, funniest, oldest friend tried to set me up with a guy whom she lives vicariously through. "He travels a lot, he has a lot of friends and he goes away for long weekends making jewelry in the woods!" And then it dawns on me- This is the guy she tried to set me up with years ago, right after my divorce who is a freaking minstrel at the King Richard's Faire. Yes, a king's playmate, someone who wears tights and bells and traipses around the woods on the autumnal solstice, presumably noshing on giant turkey legs and singing tales of woe accompanied by a small wooden guitar and a monkey. Ummm, no thanks sweetie. I'd rather be single on a Friday night with a good book than contemplate me becoming his lady in waiting, clad in a floor length velour ensemble skipping through pine needle forests, thank you. But please do continue offering me up your single friends. Sooner or later I'll find Mr. Right:)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4297247811451226474.post-68576035193071193552011-10-24T16:50:00.000-04:002011-10-25T09:40:17.420-04:00Pumpkin RecipesWhen the breezes get nippier and the leaves swirl around underfoot, baking with pumpkin calls my name!
